PROTECTED LANDSCAPES OF TENERIFE
GUÍA DE ISORA
The Tejina Mountain Natural Monument is a protected area in the southwest of Tenerife, known for its unique landscape. It is home to endangered species like the balillo (Atalanthus microcarpus) and has an ancient volcanic dome that gives it its name.
The monument spans 169.7 hectares in the Guía de Isora, with the abandoned hamlet of Las Fuentes to the east, which used to rely on dry farming. The mountain is made up of volcanic materials such as phonolites and trachybasalts, and it has been shaped by streams and pyroclasts over time. As a result, it is flanked by steep ravines like Guaria and Cuéscara.
We must preserve the treasures that surround us in Tenerife. We must respect these areas and make sure not to leave residues.
